Step 1: Excavation

Here we'll walk you through the steps of a typical installation. The key to any construction project is the foundation...plain and simple. It's no different with an interlock / landscape project either. Our foundation consists of a bed of crushed stone that varies in depth. The more traffic and weight will determine how much of a base is needed. In our example we are installing a large backyard patio and seating area which will require 10" - 12" of compacted crushed granular "A" stone. Driveways however require at least 16" - 24" of crushed stone to support the weight of vehicles. We excavate the area where the new patio will be installed to the proper depth.
